Exterior Spring Cleaning Checklist

Spring is approaching! Leave behind the ruins of winter and get prepared for the blooming flowers and warm weather. Cleaning up your landscape will instantly increase your home’s curb appeal and bring an inviting spirit to your home. Pay special attention to your exterior and leave your property looking its best. To enjoy your season-ready property, we’ve gathered the top exterior services to clean up before spring.

1. Clean up Leaves, Trash and Debris

Winter brings leaves, branches, trash and other debris around the yard that need to be picked up before attending to other areas. This allows for a fresh area to mow and prepares beds for mulch and flowers.

2. Clean Rain Gutters

As spring showers approach, your rain gutters should be clear and able to handle the pour. Scrape out all the debris you can, and hose the rest away. You can also clear clogs from the downspouts and avoid direct water reaching the foundation.

3. Spruce up Your Fence

Start by raking leaves, branches and other debris from the base of your fence. Next, do one pass with a hose or, even better, a pressure washer for a deep scrub. For an extra project, freshen up your fence with paint or sealant!

4. Tidy up Your Exterior Walls

Winter’s fury can make your exterior walls dirty. With the splash and stains of mud, using a power washer or jet hose can help tidy your exterior and remove dirty areas. It may even be a good investment to think about repainting the exterior after this chore if there is a lot of paint chipping.

5. Prep Your Garden

Give special attention to your flower and garden beds by removing weeds and replacing any broken dividers. This gives your plants and flowers a space to grow without harmful weeds. Place fresh mulch and prep your garden for blooming flowers.

6. Reseed Lawn Areas

If you notice any patches of dead grass, you may need to reseed those spots so fresh grass can grow. Spring showers allow for grass to grow back nicely and hydrating as well.
